Construction begins on Praia Hilton Hotel 12 November 2015
Prime Minister José Maria Neves presided Thursday, November 12, over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Praia Hilton Hotel, an investment assessed at some 41 million euros. Neves used the occasion to highlight the importance the infrastructure will have on economic growth and the development of tourism in the Cape Verdean capital.
“This means that we’re resuming the pace of investments, and next year, we’ll certainly see economic growth pick up, which will contribute toward generating more jobs,” stressed José Maria Neves during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Praia Hilton Hotel.
The head of government said that the new enterprise marks “a step change” from the economic point of view that will be “enhanced” with the construction of more hotels in Praia and São Vicente.
Praia mayor Ulisses Correia e Silva, for his part, affirmed that the construction of the Praia Hilton Hotel represents the fulfillment of the “objective the city has been working toward,” in other words, “building the Cape Verdean capital’s capacity to be attractive and competitive for private investment” and to “become a center for specialized tourism.”
The Praia Hilton Hotel will feature 201 rooms on 14 floors and a 700-square-meter business center with large meeting rooms ideal for corporate or social events.
