Finance Minister participates in annual World Bank and IMF meetings 06 October 2015
Minister of Finances and Planning Cristina Duarte is in Peru to participate in the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. These meetings, which are possibly her last as Cape Verde’s finance minister, given next year’s legislative elections, begin this Monday, October 5, in the South American country.
The meetings will extend until October 11. Alongside the meetings, the cabinet minister will hold bilateral meetings with several of Cape Verde’s development partners, including the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, the Saudi Fund, the Japanese Cooperation Agency and others.
These annual meetings are attended by the finance ministers and central bank directors of the institutions’ 188 member countries, who have in them a unique opportunity for wide-reaching dialogue on issues of global economic importance.
The event will also be used to discuss the perspectives of the global economy, with an emphasis on key issues to economic activities and the development of Latin American countries. Poverty reduction policies will also be assessed and inclusive economic growth will be promoted.
